Abstract

PURPOSE: To form an uneven streak-free, uniform, and thin coat layer for photograph by including a specific surfactant in one or more layer in the coating of film running by a free-dropping curtain method with a photographic emulsion running down the slide surface in the form of single or plural layers.
CONSTITUTION: An uniformly emulsified liquid is prepared by adding a high-boiling organic solvent, e.g., a mixture of dibutylphthalate and ethyl acetate, containing a water-insoluble photographic additive to an aqueous gelatin (derivative) solution containing an anionic surfactant and then by emulsifying the mixture by a homogenizer, etc., until oil droplets are uniformly dispersed in colloidal solution. When coating the emulsified liquid on film by a free-dropping curtain method, using the liquid containing a nonionic surfactant, e.g., sorbitanalkylester, etc., a uneven streak-free coat can be formed on the film without causing a transverse and longitudinal disordering phenomenon by curtain.
