Description
Process for the production of removable photographic layers on paper soaked in wax or the like. The invention relates to a method for the production of removable photographic layers (films) with wax soaked paper.
Wax paper is already used as a carrier for such peelable layers known (see e.g. Eder, Handbuch der Photopraphie; 3rd part, 5th editions, page 5o3). However, it has been found that gelatin and collodion emulsions are formed do not spread evenly on waxed paper. But this works if according to the invention, the paper soaked with wax is first used with Vogeischer Solution coats.
The solution forms a uniform layer on the wax paper, which are then coated with a light-sensitive layer (collodion or gelatin emulsion) can be coated. Vogel's solution itself adheres well to the carrier.
The paper used as a carrier must be completely saturated with wax be to an easy separation. of the film from * wax paper to enable and to to prevent liquids from being sucked up, otherwise toning and other work on the pictures as a result of the action of working fluids in the 'interstices very difficult and handicapped. It is particularly suitable for the purpose paraffin. The impregnation of the paper can expediently take place so - that the paper in the melted paraffin or wax remains until there are no more air bubbles rise and escape. The excess paraffin is then removed from the paper and the paper surface can be applied by brushing or pressure after it has cooled down a hard surface can be smoothed or satinised.
Vogel's solution for the formation of an even coating on the grown surface can have the following composition: Soluble pyroxyline ...... zo g, gelatin ............... 10 91 glacial acetic acid .. .............. 280 g. If only a very thin coating is required, the solution can be diluted with glacial acetic acid or alcohol or a mixture of glacial acetic acid and alcohol: Please note; that glacial acetic acid or glacial acetic acid in combination with alcohol softens the wax surface somewhat, but without noticeably dissolving wax and transferring it to the lower layer.
As the photosensitive layer, the usual gelatin-silver halide emulsion can be used and the printed or developed photograph can be toned as necessary or colored.
After the photograph is made, bring one the image side, whether dry or wet, adhered to one by an adhesive made surface to which the film is to be transferred. After this Drying-f-or-after; the wax paper hardening is delayed, en- by weak Erwäixa'uig known application of a solvent, e.g. B. benzene, can be the separation facilitate. So you can, in order to peel the film from the wax paper onto the new carrier, coating one or both sides of the contact with a solution of rubber in benzene; after this coating has almost dried, the surfaces are pressed onto one another and the wax paper Ii is peeled off.
