Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce rapidly and accurately a thin-walled, large-sized glass product fitted with a neck by vacuum molding plate glass with a mold of special structure. CONSTITUTION:Mold 104 is composed of upper mold 108 divided into a plurality of parts 108a, 108B and provided with upper difference 110 in level and protruded bar 110A making an acute angle at the top and reaching the mold edge from difference 110, and of lower mold 106 provided with exhaust slits 112. Mold 104 is preheated, and preheated plate glass 114 is mounted on mold 108 and heated to a high temp. enough for softening deformation. Using frameshaped press tool 115 the periphery of 114 is pressed against the surface of mold 108, and peripheral unnecessary glass part 114A is subjected to shearing displacement to the lower part side of the mold 108 surface to form very thin part 114B at the interface. At the same time, space 116 surrounded by glass 114 and mold 104 is evacuated through slits 112 of mold 106 to mold glass 114 along the inside of mold 104, and molds 108, 106 are separated to obtain glass product 110 fitted with a neck.
