Abstract
PURPOSE: To continuously produce high press. high purity H2 gas from off gas by synchronously operating H2 occlusion, heating, dehydrogenation and vacuum cooling processes in four reaction towers packed with a hydrogen occluding metal while shifting the phases.
CONSTITUTION: A H2 occluding metal of the same kind, e.g. LaNi4Cr is packed into reaction towers R1, R2, R3, R4. After cooling tower R1 by feeding cooling water 2 into heat exchange coil C1 in tower R1, off gas 1 is introduced P1 into tower R1, and heat of reaction is eliminated with water 2 to adjust the metal temp. to below the equilibrium temp. When the state in tower R1 reaches equilibrium, part of product H2 gas P3 is fed to tower R1 to purge 5 the off gas. Water 2 in coil C1 is then changed to heated water, and the interior of tower R1 is heated in a hermetically sealed state. At the same time, H2 occlusion in tower R2 is started. Thereafter, high press. H2 gass 4 is released P4 from tower R1 and taken out as a product. This dehydrogenation in tower R1 and heating and pressurizing treatment in tower R2 are performed parallelly, and towers R3, R4 are synchronously operated in a similar way.
