Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the fine gold powder by letting part of gold ions in acidic gold chloride solution deposit as colloidal gold then letting residual dissolved gold ions be reduced and deposited by powder of less noble metals than gold.
CONSTITUTION: Part of gold ions are deposited as colloidal gold by such things as addition of hydroquinone to acidic gold chloride solution. Next, the reducing agent being metal powder of electrochemically less noble copper, iron or other than gold is added at about 0.999 equivalent or under to the residual dissolved gold ions. Along with the progression of reaction after the addition of the metal powder, the colloidal deposited gold gradually disappears and upon ending of the reaction it becomes slightly cohered light sponge form. This is washed with decantation followed by washing, filtering and drying, whereby the fine gold powder of grain size 1μ or under is obtained. This gold powder is effective for electronic industry such as conductive paste material and the like.
