Abstract
PURPOSE:To considerably extend the life of the nozzle by fitting a tubular refractory in the worn inside wall of the upper nozzle hold for molten steel ladle and securing the same thereto. CONSTITUTION:The inside wall 2 of an upper nozzle 1 for molten steel ladle, which has eroded and worn owing to the effluence of molten steel, is washed with oxygen to be removed of the deposited base metal. Next, a tubular refractory 3 is inserted into the nozzle hole 5, after which mortar 4 is filled between the inside wall 2 of the nozzle hole and the outside wall of the tubular refractory 3, whereby the tubular refractory 3 is secured and fitted to the nozzle hole 5.
