Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for designing of any special mold and let rotating and stirring of molten steel be accomplished with good efficiency by installing an electromagnetic coil above the mold and letting electromagnetic force by acted upon top of the molten steel in the mold. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic coil2 for rotating and stirring molten steel is mounted to the bottom of a tundish 4 above a mold 1 perpendicularly so as to encircle a multiplicity of tundish nozzles 4. The tundish 5 is provided elevatably with respect to a tundish car 7 by an elevating cylinder 6. The tundish car 7 travles on the rail 9 laid on a casting floor 8. The tundish 5 is made runnable and retractable from above the mold 1 to be prevented from becoming a hindrance while the electromagnetic coil 2 is not in use. In addition, the tundish 5 is made elevatable to let the magnetic line of force from the electromagnetic coil 2 be effected efficiently on the molten steel surface.
