Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily exchange a fuel assembly by fixing a swiveling cylinder or moving cylinder by means of a clamping device while utilizing a guide hole provided to the upper nozzle of the fuel assembly. CONSTITUTION:A lifting shaft 14 is extended downward from the swiveling cylinder 11 and the clamping device 18 is engaged and fixed with and into the guide hole in the upper nozzle 8 of the fuel assembly 7a. The moving cylin der 12 is in proximity to the swiveling cylinder 11 and the lifting shaft 15 of the moving cylinder 12 is held pulled from the top end of the cluster 27 and, therefore, the moving cylinder 12 is moved without being hindered by the cluster 27 of the fuel assembly 7b when the moving cylinder 12 is detached from the swiveling cylinder 11 by operating a spacing adjuster 13 from this state. The shaft 15 of the moving cylinder 12 is then lowered and the device 18 is simultane ously controlled, by which the moving cylinder 12 is fixed to the nozzle 8 of the fuel assembly 7c. The fuel assembly 7c is moved and the spacing between the assemblies 7a and 7c increases when the moving cylinder 12 is detached by a distance D from the swiveling cylinder 11 by operating the adjuster 13 in the case of inserting the fresh assembly 7b. The assembly 7b can then be inserted.
