Abstract

PURPOSE: To save power consumption of motor, by employing an arrangement that auxiliary winding is disconnected when compressor torque becomes lower than the maximum torque in case that the motor is of RSIR-type (resistance shunt type) and CSIR-type (cpacitor start type), whereas starting capacitor is disconnected in case that the motor is of CSR-type (capacitor-start, capacitor-shunt type).
CONSTITUTION: Arrangement for an electric compressor of this invention is such that Tm2', pure single-phase maximum torque of motor, is lower than the starting torque Tcs of compressor and its auxiliary winding is disconnected at the instant (t3) when compressor torque Tc becomes lower than the pure single-phase maximum torque Tm2' of motor. That is, until time (t3), compressor is started in two- phase condition. Further, pure single-phase maximum torque is designed to be lower than the initial starting torque of compressor and the operation is switched to pure single-phase operation at the time instant when the compressor torque becomes lower than the pure single-phase maximum torque. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to eliminate chattering of starting relay and also to save the power consumption of motor.
