Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a rust preventive composite which is non-hygroscopic, produces no HCHO, and requires no addn. of amine when used as a rust preventive agent, by using as active ingredients an alkali metal salt of HNO2, and ethylene urea or its derivatives. CONSTITUTION:An alkali metal salt of HNO2, e.g., NaNO2, KNO2, and ethylene urea or its derivative are dissolved in water or methanol in a ratio of the alkali metal salt to ethylene urea of 20-90: 80-10 by wt. The soln., if necessary, with addn. of adhesive medium, is applied to, or impregnated into, a sheet material such as (coated)paper, woven or unwoven fabric, plastic film, in a ratio 3-15g/m<2> by conventional method to manufacture rust preventive packing material. When this rust preventive fluid is used for the surface treatment of steel sheet etc. by immersing the sheet into the fluid, or by applying the fluid to the sheet, a concn. not lower than 0.1% is desirable.
