Abstract

PURPOSE: Steel for welding excellent in notch toughness of weld bond part, contained more than one kind of C, Si, Mn, P, N and Al, Ti, Zr etc. and fixing free N as nitride etc. especially and then, obtained by lowering the content of the above nitride.
CONSTITUTION: Content of N in the steel for welding is remarkably low, making about 25ppm of free N content, not more than 0.0040% of total N content, not more than 0.010% of P and moreover, not more than 0.03% of (P+5N)% even at welding heat-affected zone. As a result of it, the above steel is possessed very high low temperature toughness and also, size and distribution of nitride or carbonitride, are controlled as a means of disturbing solid solution making of nitride at about 1400°C of heating welding heat cycle and then, the high low temperature toughness is secured. That is, not less than one kind of inactive nitride, such as AlN, ZrN, TiN etc., or carbonitride, is produced in the steel and the size is made not less than 0.05μ. As a result of it, N content of the solid solution of welding heat-affected Zone is able to control not more than 25ppm by welding heat input in comparatively wide extent, such as 30W200KJ/cm.
