Abstract

PURPOSE: A funnel type draft tube is installed in an anaerobic digestion tank to prevent scum formation.
CONSTITUTION: An anaerobic digestion tank consists of a raw slurry inlet pipe 2, a digested slurry extraction tube 3, a gas outlet tube 4, a trumpet type draft tube 5 with expanded opening at the top, a screw blade 6, a rotary shaft 7, a motor 8, a sediment extraction pipe 9, a rotary valve 10, a desufurization tower 11, and a gas tank 12. Scum layer or scum forming components on the surface of liquid is sucked in the draft tube 5 and injected from the bottom of the tube. This is operated by the rotating blade 6 connected the motor 8 through the rotary shaft 7 that passes the wall. The trumpet type draft tube 5 with expanded opening at the top can have the lower part to be expanded also, to further effect uniform liquid circulation in the tank and controlling scum formation.
