Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically reduce fog on the background of an electro-static latent image, by carrying out bias control so as to keep the ratio of 2-color toner attachment amounts constant according to the output obtained by detecting the toner attachment amounts on the background.
CONSTITUTION: Two kinds of positive and negative static latent images on image bearing medium 1 are developed with 2-color developing unit 3 using toners different from each other in polarity and color to form a 2-color image. The attachment amounts of positive and negative toner particles attached to the background or the similar part after development of the static latent image are detected with detection means 4, respectively. The ratio of the attached toners is adjusted to a predetermined value or the weight of each attached toner is regulated to zero by controlling development bias application means 6 by controller 5.
