Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for transmission lines for channel selection signal transmission and achieve the reduction of insertion losses, size and weigth by detecting the reflected light from the other in one of two symmetrically disposed optical fibers and changing the reflecting direction of a reflecting body based on this. CONSTITUTION:A reflecting mirror 22 by which the angle of inclination may be obtained as desired is disposed to the end face 21 of a self-focussing lens 20. Optical fibers 23-29 are so disposed as to assume the position relations symmetrical to the axis of the lens 20. The light out from this fiber 23 becomes parallel beams in the lens 20, after which part of the beams are feflected by the lens and face 21 and converge at the end face of the fiber 25. On the other hand, the light having transmitted through the end face 21 is reflected by the reflecting mirror 22 and passes through the lens 20, thence it converges at the specified position of the lens dnd face according to the inclination of the reflecting mirror and transmits through one of the fibers corresponding to said position. In this way, the reflecting light is so controlled by changing the angle of the reflecting mirror as to pass selectibely through the specific transmission line. Thereby, the need for channel selection signal transmission lines may be eliminated.
