Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to prevent the deterioration of impregnated lubricating oil, by incorporating fine powder of a metal, e.g. N or Cr, or its oxide into a friction material for electromagnetic clutch motors in industrial sewing machines, consisting mainly of cork particles and a binder.
CONSTITUTION: Cork particles of particle size of 100W1,200μm, obtained by pulverizing natural cork, are incorporated with 10W30wt% of a binder, e.g. melamine or phenolic resin, and 5W80wt% of fine powder of a metal, selected from N, Cr, Ba, Sn, Zn, and Al, or its oxide, hot-molded, and impregnated with a lubricating oil to give a friction material. Mineral, neopentyl polyol ester, or polyolefin oil may be used as the lubricating oil.
