Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:3-Amino-substituted-benzyl substituted-aminobenzoate of formula I (X1,2 are H or halogen).
EXAMPLE: 3-Aminobenzyl-4'-aminobenzoate.
USE: A hardener for manufacturing polyurethane elastomer. Improves its processability and mechanical strength. Balanced characteristics necessary for the polyurethane hardener.
PROCESS: A substituted nitrobenzoyl halide of formula II (Y is halogen) is reacted with 3-nitro-substituted benzyl alcohol of formula III in the presence of a hydrogen halide-removing agent such as pyridine, at 40W60°C for several hours to afford 3-nitro-substituted-benzyl substituted-nitrobenzoate fo formula IV, which is converted to the objective compound of formula I by reducing with Fe-acetic acid, in a solvent such as benzene, under reflux for several hours, and treating the reaction mixture by conventional process.
