Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide flow meter which can take flow measurement stably even in a case of heavily turbid liquid by discriminating abnormal measurement value in such a way that ratio of detected abnormal measurements in a preset first period is larger or not than reference value.
CONSTITUTION: Output 38 from abnormal detection section 5 is sampled in a second period shorter than the first period preset by clock 30 and AMD-gate 31, and sampling signal 35 is input to counter 32 of which measurement period is determined by the reset signal 36 applied thereto as the first priod from period preset section 33. If sampling signal 35 in the fisst period exceeds the preset value of counter 32, output 39 of abnormal counting section is reversed though latch 37, and reversed signal 39 is applied to signal holding section which keeps the value of measured flow speed at the level before abnormality has occured. In this way, even in a case of heavily turbid liquid or sewage which are easily, effected by foreign matters, normal or abnormal condition is exactly discriminated in response to the status of supersonic wave transmission so that stable flow measurement can be achieved.
