Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform the captioned fabrication surely with good productivity by restraining the outside circumferential protions of a pipe except its specified portions with cylindrical collars of the inside diameter approximately the same size as the outside diameter of the pipe and force inserting a thread-rolling tool having the rolling rings which have the tread surface of the same shape as groove shape into the pipe.
CONSTITUTION: The outside circumference of a pipe 9 is restrained by cylindrical collars 5 of an inside diameter slightly larger than the outside diameter of the pipe 9. The cylindrical holder 2 of the thread-rolling tool 1 is integrally coupled with a rod 4 and rolling rings 3 are mounted at the same number as that of grooves and at helix angles of around 10° with respect to the cylinder axis direction to the holder 2 and therefore when the tool 1 is force inserted into the pipe 9, fine grooves are fabricated by rolling of the rolling rings 3. Even if the forcing depth of the rolling rings 3 become more than 20% of the thickness of the pipe 9, the deformation of the pipe 9 is prevented by the collars 5 and therefore the fine grooves are surely formed. Since the bend portions and brazing portions 8 of the pipe 9 have no restraining, they deform during grooving and grooves are hardly formed.
