Abstract

A finned tube is disclosed together with a process and an apparatus for making the tube. The finned tube has T-shaped fins 2 extending from the outer surface of the tube 4, the base 3 of the fins extending radially from the tube. The fins extend in a helical fashion along the tube outer surface and are arranged such that the axial spacing between adjacent fins initially increases and then decreases with increasing distance from the tube axis. <IMAGE>
