Abstract
PURPOSE: To prolong a length of the battery operational time, with a heat from the heating agent causing a heat generation in the heat generating unit to increase a thermal insulation, by providing a thermal insulation layer, having the heat generating unit, at one end or both ends of the layer-built unit with element cell and heating agent alternately laminated.
CONSTITUTION: An element cell 1 is constructed by using, for instance, calcium plate for the negative pole, LiCl-KCl eutectic salt for the electrolyte, chromic acid calcium for the positive pole and iron for the positive pole current collector unit. This is built into layers alternately with a heating agent 2 consisting of the mixed powder of metal powder and oxidizing agent. At one end or both ends of this layer built unit is provided a thermal insulation layer consisting of a heat generating unit 6 and adiabator 7, and the heat generating unit 6 is caused to generate a heat by a heating of the heating agent 2 with the battery kept warm. For the heat generating unit 6, is used a material such that, for instance, a reduction type metal plate like calcium, magnesium, etc. and a mixed layer of melting salt and oxidizing agent, likely as a mixed product between LiCl-KCl eutectic mixed salt and KNO3 or KClO4, K2CrO4, be put between steel plate.
