Abstract
PURPOSE: To advantageously produce the captioned steel plates of different thicknesses of alloyed tin plating layers by remelting the electrodeposited tin on the steel plate surfaces then cooling the front and back surfaces thereof to different temperatures and separately controlling the alloy layer thicknesses.
CONSTITUTION: A steel plate 1 remelted with electrodeposited tin is sent into a cooling bath 4 and the front and back surfaces of the steel plate 1 are cooled to different temperatures by the cooling water being spouted from the spray nozzles 7, 7' provided right under the steady water level of the bath 4 and the circulating water to spray boxes 6, 6', after which the steel plate 1 is sent out from the bath 4. In this case, the amount of the water being spouted from the nozzles 7, 7' is made constant and the rate of feeding of circulating water in the bath 4 to the boxes 6, 6' is controlled, whereby temperature controlling is accomplished. The rates of feeding of the recirculating cooling water may be separately automatically controlled by a steel plate front side temperature indicating control unit (TIC) 8 and a back side TIC 9. The foregoing operations yield the alloyed tin different thickness plated steel plate which is improved of solderability and workability at a minimum tin pickup on the front side thereof and is improved of corrosion resistance through increased alloy tin amount on the back side.
