Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform highly accurate axial alignment and angle alignment with ease by aligning the axes and angles of fibers by the use of a sleeve of ceramics or glass having a precision worked hole to connect the fibers then fusion-bonding the fibers while the sleeve is being held put on. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 4 are inserted from both ends into the highly-accurate hole 6 formed to a ceramics sleeve or glass sleeve 5 like (a) and are butted like (b). Next, the butt part is thermally fusion welded like (c) and adhesives 9 are filled in a through-hole 7 and in the fiber insertion holes like (d) to reinforce the connection.
