PROCESS: Reaction of a compound II (Y, Z are H or protecting groups) with an alkoxide gives an objective compound III (R2a is alkoxy), which can be hydrolyzed to another objective compound IV by acid hydrolysis. The R2a of the compound IV can be converted to OH by alkali hydrolysis of the compound IV.
