Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the electric conductivity and stress corrosion cracking sensibility resistance of a copper alloy contg. a restricted amt. of Fe and Ni by annealing the alloy under specified conditions after finish working.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy is cast consisting of Fe 2.5W5.0wt%, Ni 0.5W2.0wt% and the balance Cu. This ingot is finish worked to 60W90% by planing, heat rolling, etc., annealed at 400W500°C for 10minW2hr, and aged. By this method a high tensile, electrically conductive copper alloy is obtd. having superior stress corrosion cracking sensibility resistance, and the electric conductivity of the alloy is considerably recovered without lowering the strength. This alloy is widely used as a conductive material for a switch, a wiring tool, etc. for electric appliances in place of brass.
