Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the composition which is inexpensive and has oxygen absorbing performance by using cast iron powder as the iron raw material for the oxygen capturing composition composed of iron, hydrated sodium carbonate, metal halide, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This is the oxygen capturing composition composed of iron powder, hydrated sodium carbonate, metal halide and/or fillers, wherein the machining iron powder comprising fusing cast iron then forming the same to linear form and cutting this is used as the cast iron. This machining iron powder is of 300μ or under in mean particle size and 0.5m2/g or over in specific surface area. The oxygen capturing composition using this cast iron powder exhibits particularly superior oxygen absorbing performance but the raw material is inexpensive and permits controlling of the rate and amount of oxygen reaction, thus smooth oxygen absorption is accomplished.
