Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the yield of products by adding pouring molten metal and casting to prevent break out after placing the specified steel pieces sideways on the hot water surface inside the mold.
CONSTITUTION: Stop the cast and pull up the tundish nozzle to remove the slag on the molten metal surface. Next, place the cutting piece 3 of steel pipe which provides plural transmission holes 4 and the length l approx. equal to the ingot piece sideways so that about half diameter of the pipe d is submerged. Throw the cooling material 5 such as polishing powder between the molding wall 1, 1 and after pulling down the ingot piece to the suitable distance, then repeat the casting again by lowering the nozzle and pouring the molten metal. By proceeding these steps, new molten steel enters into the steel pipe through the both ends and the transmission holes of the cutting piece of steel pipe. Both new and old ingot pieces are combined firmly through the steel pipe. Consequently, there is no possibility to occur accidents accompanied with pulling out of the ingot piece such as breaking and break-out of the connecting portion.
