Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform switching of the optical path of the first optical fiber and the specified optical fiber by disposing the first optical fiber and plural optical fibers on its circumference having the diameters of the specific relations and providing a rod lens and its rotary support in the specified positions. CONSTITUTION:The switch is provided with the bundle wherein the d1, d2 in the first optical fiber 301 of an outside diameter d1 and (n) optical fibers 302 thru 311 (as n=10) of an outside diameter d2 disposed on its circumference are made to the relations of formula [I], a rod lens 401 which has two end faces perpendicular to the central axis, has a total reflecting film R on one end face and whose length is about 1/4 pitch in zigzag pitch of light, and a rotator 402 whose end faces are faced to the end faces of the optical fiber bundle, which is deviated by rotation central axis 1/4 (d1+d2) from the central axis of the lens 401 and whose rotation central axis aligns approximately to the central axis of the first optical fiber 301. The rotator is rotated in such a manner that the central axis of the lens 401 aligns to the specified one of (n) lines bisecting the spacing between the central axis of the optical fiber 301 and the central axis of each optical fiber, whereby the optical path is changed over.
