Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:3, 5-Acetyl-1, 2, 6-trimethyl-tricyclo[ 5.3.2.02,7 ]dodec-5-ene of formula I.
USE: A raw material for compound perfumes.
PROCESS: One mole of 1,2,6-trimethyl-tricyclo[5.3.2.02,7]dodec-5-ene of formula II is reacted with 4 moles of acetic anhydride in the presence of an acid catalyst, preferably a Friedel-Crafts catalyst, e.g.boron trifluoride, at -5 to 85°C, to give the objictive compound of formula I.
