PURPOSE: A bacterium producing a coagulation-active substance, belonging to Dematium in Dematiaceae, is cultured to produce a coagulation-active substance capable of coagulating organic, inorganic, mineral substances as well as protein.
CONSTITUTION: A bacterium producing a coagulation-active substance, which belongs to Dematium in Dematiaceae, e.g., FERM-4257, is cultured in a culture medium containing glucose and other carbohydrates as the major carbon source, whose concentration is 0.5W5% in the medium, and the produced substance is collected.
