Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain sufficient strength of moldings, by forming with thermosetting resin used as binder.
CONSTITUTION: Powdery adsorbent made from at least one or two kinds of minerals such as zeolite, clay minerals such as montmorillonite, active carbon, and red mud is formed by using thermosetting resin to obtain adsorbent moldings having specific surface area of 10W1000m2/g, pore diameter of 2W2000Å, total pore volume (P/Po=1) of 0.02W0.5cc/g, compressive strength of 30kg/cm2, and heat resistant temperature of more than 100°C. These moldings have various shapes such as corrugated form, plate form, grid form and pellet form, and possess not only the adsorbing characteristics of the commercial adsorber, but also excellent resistance to chemicals, acid, alkali and heat and strength, so that they may be effectively presented for prevention of air pollution and water quality contamination.
