Abstract

PURPOSE: The melt spinning of conjugate fiber from a high poymer that is solid at room temperature and has fiber-forming property and another component that is fluid at room temperature is carried out under specific conditions, thus readily producing self-splittable conjugate fibers.
CONSTITUTION: (A) a high polymer that is solid at room temperature and has fiber-forming property as polyethylene terephthalate or polyamide and (B) a component that is fluid at room temperature as silicone are melt spun by e.g., the candle method, wherein specific conditions are set so that component B intervenes into gaps between plurally divided component A. Thereby component A can readily be split without the removal of component B with a solvent or mechanical or chemical action into finely split fibers.
