Abstract

PURPOSE: After a polyester containing a dispersed powder has been spun, the fibers are specially treated to produce polyester fibers having unique touch, high pilling resistance and snagging reisitance.
CONSTITUTION: A polyester is mixed with 0.5W10wt% of powder of 1W500mμ average particle size and the resultant polymer is melt spun at a speed of less than 2,500m/min. Then, the fibers are stood at a temperature lower than the secondary transition point, preferably lower than 10°C for 4 days or more. Then, the fibers are treated under conditions that tension is 50W95wt% of the first yielding stress and temperature is lower than the secondary transition point for an enough time to bring about fine cracks. Then, the fibers are drawn to produce the objective fibers having more than 130, per 1mm of fiber length, of wrinkles whose height is less than 5% of the fiber diameter and length is less than the circumference of the fiber cross section vertical to the fiber direction.
