Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title fibers having improved color development and depth on dyeing, and hand similar to silk, by forming fiber surfaces with random irregularities and further ultrafine unevennesses therein.
CONSTITUTION: Fibers having surfaces with(A) random irregularities, wherein the average distance (X)between the lowest point and the adjacent one is 0.2W0.7μ, and the number of A is 10W50 per 10μ of the average circumferential distance perpendicular to the fiber axis direction, and (B) ultrafine unevennesses of 50W 20mμ in A. The fibers can be obtained by treating polyester synthetic fibers containing 0.5W10wt% of fine particles, e.g. colloidal silica comprising 5 or more secondary particles of size 0.1W0.5μ per 10μ2, with a solvent capable of dissolving and decomposing the fibers to have the surfaces eluted and attacked.
