Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the measurement precision of the percentage of water content by measuring the density of grains circulating in a drier in parallel to the measurement of the percentage of water content on a high-frequency system and then by correcting the output of the electrode plate for the total percentage of water content by the measurement output.
CONSTITUTION: In cylindrical measurement chamber 20, measuring cylinder 21 for the total weight and electrode plate 22 for the total percentage of water content are vertically arranged and the diameter of the center part of measuring cylinder 21 is made longer than those of its top and bottom openings so as to allow grains right before and after passing through electrode plate 22 to stay temporarily inside of measuring cylinder 21. By a load on measuring cyclinder 21 at this time, the density of grains passing through measuring cylinder 21 is measured and the output of the total percentage of water content is corrected by the measurement output. Therefore, even if the electrostatic capacity of electrode plate 22 varies with the density of grains circulating in drier 2, the invariably-accurate measurment of the percentage of water content can be done and grains can accurately be dried to a desired percentage by controlling drier 2 according to the measurement.
