Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a control system for controlling operation of internal combustion engine with torque converter, in which a control lever for a high gear clutch of torque converter and a control lever for fuel injection pump are interlocked with each other in their operative region to full load of engine, but this interlocked condition is removed by depressing the accelerator pedal further at the full load position, whereby it is enabled to attain a desirable performance of engine.
CONSTITUTION: When accelerator pedal is depressed, a first and a second levers 8a, 8b of control lever 8 ar turned together in clockwise direction. Therefore, through the interlocked operation of lever 5 and lever 13, operational speed range of high gear clutch is shafted to the high-speed region in response to increase of the engine load. Under normal full-load operation, control lever 8 is held in abutment with stopper 10. However, if it is wanted to release high gear clutch, accelerator pedal is depressed further, whereby control lever 5 for torque converter can be shifted to a required position since the second control lever 8b is allowed to turn around pin 12, although control lever 13 for fuel injection pump is held in its position since the first lever 8a is stopped by stopper 10.
