Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the title process described as follows: while feeding a raw material paste through the lower end of the first reaction tube made up by successively connecting a plurality of straight tubes, the resulting hydrogenated product is taken out from the upper end of the reaction tube and fed to the next reaction tube, thus repeating the same procedure along with supplying a lower temperature paste through the bottom of each reaction tube to prevent localized overheating.
CONSTITUTION: A paste consisting of pulverized coal or lignin, a catalyst, and a heavy oil is made to react, at 400W500°C, with a gas having a hydrogen partial pressure of 120W700kg/cm2 to carry out thermal cracking to obtain a hydrogenated product of a hydrogen content of 6W8 wt%. The overall reaction is performed by feeding the paste through the lower end of a reaction tube made up by connecting a series of pref. gradually narrowing straight tubes. Being taken out from the upper end of the reaction tube, the product is fed, as "a raw material", to the next reaction tube, The hydrogen gas is supplied excessively, in a bubbled state from the lowest part of each tube so that a Reynolds number ≥104 may be effected. Furthermore, from the bottom of each tube, a low-temperature paste of the same quality as that in the corresponding tube is supplied to prevent overheating, thus obtaining a heavy and/or light oil continuously.
