Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the clogging of device due to the by-product pitch and coke, to reduce the hydrogen consumption ratio, and to obtain good-quality light oil, by performing the thermal cracking reaction and pitch formation in two stages under specific conditions separately.
CONSTITUTION: Heavy hydrocarbons from the pipe 1 and a hydrogen donative solvent from the pipe 2 are fed to the mixer 3, and heated by the heater 5 with the recycling hydrogen from the pipe 4, then hydrocracked by the first reactor 7 with hydrogen supply at a temperature of 380W450°C and a pressure of 20W150kg/cm2G. The pitchy substance formation is almost negligible. The reaction mixture is accelerated by the hydrogen from the pipe 8, and easily separable pitch is formed in the second reactor 10 at a temperature of 450W550°C and a pressure of 20W150 kg/cm2G.
