Abstract
PURPOSE: In the production of cyclopentadiene by the pyrolysis of liquid dicyclopentadiene, the starting material is distilled and vaporized before the pyrolysis as the pretreatment to prevent the blockade of the heater and pyrolyzer by thermal polymerization products and enable effective and continuous reaction.
CONSTITUTION: Liquid dicyclopentadiene is supplied to distillation column 5 through pipe 1 together with the recycling liquid from the second drum 16 through pipe 3 and a heavy inert hydrocarbon oil through pipe 2. The heavy liquid containing almost all of the heavy inert hydrocarbon oil is continuously expelled out of the bottom of the distillation column and the gas stream from the top is cooled into liquid, which is led to the first drum 9. A part of it is recycled to the distillation column and the rest is led to heater 14 where 40W95wt% of the liquid is gasified to form a gas-liquid mixture. The mixture is sent to the second drum 16 and the liquid stream is recycled through pipe 3 to the distillation column. In the meantime, the gas stream obtained by the above pretreatment is fed to pyrolyzer 18 where the gaseous dicyclopentadiene is decomposed continuously at a temperature of 220W 450°C.
