Abstract
PURPOSE: To make possible the waste water treatment to qjickly react freely from the secondary environmental pollution and excess charge of the hydrogen peroxide solution, by adjusting pH of the nitrites-including waste water to 2W5 adding hydrogen peroxide solution for treatment of the waste water, and by measuring the end point of reaction using the oxidation-reduction potentiometer equipped with the platinum electrode.
CONSTITUTION: The nitrites-including waste water is stirred and is added with H2O2 solution for treating at pH under 5; hereby, the reaction of the formula I quickly proceeds, and when pH lowers below 2, the reaction of the formula II starts parallelly to the formula I. By this reason, pH is adjusted to 2W5 for proceeding the oxidation reaction. As an example of this method, the nitrites-including waste water is introduced from the tank 1 into the chemical treating tank 3, is stirred by the stirrer 6, is added with sulfuric acid 17 to make pH 3W4; at this point, the water supply is stopped, and H2O2 solution 18 is added. Hereupon, the variation of the oxidation-reduction potential of the water is detected by the oxidation-reduction potentiometer 15 through the platinum oxidation-reduction potential electrode 5; the sudden change of the potential nearby the end point of the reaction is caught and the supply of the H2O2 solution is stopped; after that, NaOH solution 16 is added to neutralize the water to pH 7, and the neutral waste water is discharged.
