Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the process and to prevent defect of steel material from being produced, by composing deoxidizing alloy for molten steel of Al-Ti alloy comprising 30W80 molar % Ti, the remainder being Al, to form inclusion other than dendrite oxide.
CONSTITUTION: Deoxidizing alloy for molten steel composed of Al-Ti alloy contg. 30W80 moler % Ti gas deoxidizing speed and deoxidizing power not smaller than that of Al alone. In addn., use of the alloy lowers the m.p. of the oxide formed, and decreases the degree of supercooling, so that eliminates dendrite-like oxide and forms perf. oxide. As the result, production of defects of the steel due to dendrite- like Al2O3 is prevented, making conventional complicated process unnecessary, consequently the process is simplified. Increase in Ti content to 80 molar % or more decreases deoxidizing speed, and decrease in Ti content to 30 molar % or lower gives no oxide of pref. form.
