Abstract

PURPOSE:To switch and control rotational direction of a brushless DC motor by utilizing a semiconductor switch. CONSTITUTION:When a rotational direction switching switch 26 is connected with a point 26a, transistors 7 and 8 are connected with armature coils 2a to 2c in series. Then transistors 10, 12, and 14 are energized if hole elements 16 to 18 are located in the S pole magnetic field, thus causing voltage drop in resistores 10a, 12a, and 14a, and energizing transistors 7 to 9 through diodes 20, 22, and 24. As a result, the armature coils 2a to 2c are energized with different phase of 120 degrees each other, and rotational torque is generated, thus rotating the magnetic field 1 in an arrowed direction. When the switch 26 is connected with a point 26b, emitter side of the transistors 10 to 14a are deenergized, and the emitter side of the transistors 11 to 15 are connected with a forward voltage terminal 5a. As a result, only if each hole element is located in the N pole magnetic field, transistors 7 to 9 are energized through the diodes 21 to 25, thus generating rotational torque in the opposite direction.
