Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable always good developing to be performed by turning a latent image carrier face which turns at the developing and a developing roller in the opposite directions at approximately the same peripheral speed and letting these pressure contact relatively in nearly a static state and spaceing these at the time other than developing.
CONSTITUTION: A developing roller 14 has an elastic foam material 17 around its central roller 16 and a net 18 enclosing this in endless form and turns in the arrow direction in the opposite direction in pressure contact with a photoreceptor 6 with the respective peripheral speeds being matched on the pressure contact face. Hence, the developing roller 14 with developing solution 12 being sufficiently absorbed therein makes contact to the photoreceptor 6. Electrostatic latent images are developed by the developing solution c squeezed out from the nip part a. At the time when the developing roller 14 turns and its pressure contact part with the photoreceptor 6 detaches from the photoreceptor 6, the elastic foam material 17 sucks the excess developing solution near the photoreceptor 6 owing to its recovering force. To stop the operation of the apparatus, the developing roller 14 is detached from the photoreceptor 6 and fresh roller 5 and is submerged into the developing solution.
