Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (one of R1 and R2 is H and the other is methyl; R3 is glycyl, alanyl, etc.; excluding the case that R1 is H, R2 is methyl, R3 is glycyl, and the substitution groups at 5- and 4-positions are trans-configuration) and its acid addition salt.
EXAMPLE: 4-N-Glycyl-KA-6606VI of formula II.
USE: Antibacterial agent.
PROCESS: The objective compound can be obtained by (1) acylating KA-6606VI of formula III which is a metabolic produce of, e.g. Saccharopolyspora hirsuta KC6606 strain, with benzyloxycarbonyl chloride, etc., in an aqueous solution in the presence of sodium carbonate under ice cooling, thereby protecting the amino groups at 1-, 2'- and 6'-positions, (2) separating the product and reacting with N-hydroxysuccinimidyl-N-benzyloxycarbonyl glycine, (3) subjecting the reaction product to the catalytic reduction at room temperature, and (4) eliminating the protecting groups.
