Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain uniform cupric oxide insulation reaching the inside of the twisted wire by a procedure in which the twisted copper wire is heated in an inert atmosphere and then dipped in an oxidizing treatment liquid.
CONSTITUTION: The twisted copper wire 10 is deoiled by alkaline liquid 12 for its surface, introduced through a sealing portion 18 into a heating tank 16 of inert atmosphere to heat it at approx. 120W200°C by a high-frequency heater 22, and then introduced through a sealing box 26 into an oxidizing tank 28 where the oxidizing treatment liquid 30 composed of sodium chlorite and sodium hydroxide is circulated through a tank 32 and a pump 34. In the oxidizing tank 28 kept at approx. 90W100°C, an uniform thin-thick oxide film reaching the internal strand of the twisted wire 10 is thus formed at a very fast speed. This method is effectively applicable to the strand insulation of a power cable conductor.
