Abstract
PURPOSE: To shorten time until reaching a stable level from the reopening of water passing by a method wherein the quantity of a coagulant added to a filter in case of normal water passing is specified while the quantity of the coagulant added at the initial stage of water passing just after lock-washing is increased more than the quantity to be used in case of the normal water passing.
CONSTITUTION: The concentration of a coagulant added in the case when seawater or brine is normally passed through a filter medium is set to 0.05W1ppm. The concentration of the coagulant added at the initial stage of the reopening of water passing just after the back-washing of said filter is temporarily increased more than 2ppm, and the filter is operated. For example, the filter is operated in such a manner that valves 7, 13, 10 are opened, while only a pump 15 is worked, and the coagulant is simultaneously injected from the arrow head B. In this case, the concentration of the coagulant added is temporarily increased more than 2ppm, and back-washing drainage is joined along the arrow head H from a back-washing drainage tank 1. That is, the quantities of flocks in the seawater introduced into the filter 5 are increased only at the initial stage of the reopening of operation, and the adhesion of the flocs, etc. onto a surface of a filter layer is promoted.
