Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to pick up the color pattern of a body to be read with simple constitution by irradiating the body with alternate beams differing emitted color, by picking up the reflected beams by the same photodetector, and then by separating output signals of the photodetector by light sources.
CONSTITUTION: Pulse light emitted from light source 18 is reflected by a sheet of paper or the like and then picked up by line sensor 23. The pickup information signal is transmitted to signal processing circuit 27 being split via analog switch 25. Then, controller 16 cuts off the signal of light source 18, the sheet of paper is irradiated with pulse light in difference color from light source 17 and the information signal of light source 17 is transmitted to signal processing circuit 26 being split. The transmitted information signals of light sources 17 and 18 are processed by color patterns by signal processing circuits 26 and 27 and color patterns are mixed and recognized by a recognition unit.
