Abstract

PURPOSE: To rapidly increase a temperature and flow rate of exhaust for quickly heating a catalytic device by belaying an ignition timing and increasing r.p.m of an engine while a temperature of catalyst is lower than a working temperature and the engine runs idle.
CONSTITUTION: A solenoid valve 8 is controlled by a control circuit CC to which powers of an engine-cooling water sensor switch C/W.SW and a neutral position detecting switch T/M.SW are input. With an engine running in neutral, the solenoid 8 is turned on to open a passage 7 until a temperature of engine cooling water reaches a specific value. Suction pressures are formed in diaphragm cases 2, 5 to have a distributor 1 significantly delay an ignition timing and a throttle valve 4 opened to a specified degree. Consequently exhaust gas fed from the engine increases in temperature and flow rate so that a catalytic device is rapidly heated.
