Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain efficient radiation of ultraviolet rays even in the vacant space of a magnetic core and improve efficiency by forming the endless magnetic core which is accomodated in a bulb into falt plane form. CONSTITUTION:When high frequency current is supplied from a high frequency oscillating circuit 9 to a coil 6, high frequency magnetic field in closed loop form is formed in an endless magnetic field 5. Due to said high frequency magnetic field, high frequency electric field is formed, interlinked with the magnetic core 5, and due to said high frequency electric field, discharge is generated in a bulb 1, and this discharge current flows in the closed loop interlinked with the magnetic core 5. Due to this discharge, the atoms of mercury vapour which are sealed in the bulb 1 are excited, radiating ultraviolet rays, and said ultraviolet rays are radiated onto a fluorescent film 4, and visible light is radiated from this fluorescent film 4. As the magnetic core 5 has oval form, the sectional area of the hollow part 11 can be increased larger than the minor axis of the magnetic core 5.
