Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily adjust the locations of a tap mounted to a coil for driving non-electrode discharge, by inserting a magnetic core into the coil, and by varying inductance by regulating the quantity of the magnetic core inserted. CONSTITUTION:Inactive gas and gas radiating ultraviolet rays by the discharge of Hg, etc. are sealed, a coil 8 is mounted near a bulb, which inwall is coated with a phosphor, high frequency power is fed to the coil 8 to excite discharge in the bulb, and a magnetic core 9 is inserted to the one end 10 side of the coil 8 of a fluorescent lamp for radiating the phosphor by ultraviolet rays, thus shaping a resonance circuit with a condenser 13. Discharge plasma recieves high frequency power as secondary coil loads 31, 32, which are wound at a time, magnetically connected to the coil 8. The inductance of the coil 8 is varied by changing the quantity of the magnetic core 9 inserted, thus adjusting a high frequency oscillator and discharge plasma.
