Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a hydrocarbon consisting mainly of olefins with good selectivity, by bringing methanol or ethanol into control with aluminum phosphate supported on a carrier in a gas phase under elevated temperatures at mild pressure conditions.
CONSTITUTION: Methanol or ethanol is brought into control with aluminum secondary phosphate supported on a carrier in gas phase under mild reaction conditions. The reaction is carried out at 250W500°C (preferably 300W450°C) under 0.1W50kg/ cm2 (preferably 0.5W10kg/cm2). A well-known oxide, e.g., alumina, silica, titania, is used as the carrier of the catalyst. For example, the oxide is immersed in a hydrochloric acid aqueous solution of aluminum secondary phosphate, which is supported on the carrier, and the solvent is removed to give the catalyst. A support ratio of the catalyst calculated as aluminum recondary phosphate is 1W50wt%.
